Accelerate Your Cloud Adoption Journey and
Meet Your Business Objectives

Get started with Azure cloud governance

There are many reasons for cloud adoption, it could be because of a critical business event such as closing a data center, or needing to meet new data sovereignty regulations; or it could be because of a migration motivation such as scaling to meet business needs; or it could be because of a need for innovation to meet customer demands or build new technical capabilities. Regardless of your motivationgovernance is essential for success.

Cloud governance is an iterative process. For organizations with existing policies that govern on-premises IT environments, cloud governance should complement and extend those existing policies. However, the level of corporate governance equivalence between on-premises and the cloud varies depending on cloud adoption maturity and the digital estate deployed in the cloud. As the cloud estate changes over time, so should cloud governance processes and policies.

Whether you have already deployed some resources to the cloud, or are at the beginning of your cloud adoption journey, let us help you avoid the pitfalls. We can help you to adopt an “identity-based perimeter”a “zero trust posture”, and enable you to govern and control your cloud environment. Let us help you build your cloud governance and compliance foundation today.

Govern your Azure Cloud

Governing the cloud can be broken down into 5 disciplines: Cost Management, Security BaselineIdentity Baseline, Resource Consistency, and Deployment Acceleration.

Work with us to develop a Cost Management discipline as part of your cloud governance strategy.

Security is a component of any IT deployment; and the cloud introduces unique security concerns. Many businesses are subject to regulatory requirements that make protecting sensitive data a major organizational priority when considering a cloud transformation. Identifying potential security threats to your cloud environment and establishing processes and procedures for addressing these threats should be a priority for any IT security or cybersecurity team.

We can work with you to adopt a Zero Trust approach to security, complete with monitoring and alerting.

Identity is increasingly considered the primary security perimeter in the cloud, which is a shift from the traditional focus on network security.

Identity services provide the core mechanisms supporting access control and organization within IT environments. The Identity Baseline discipline complements the Security Baseline discipline by consistently applying authentication and authorization requirements across cloud adoption efforts, for internal and external users, across multiple device profiles.

Resource Consistency establishes policies related to the operational management of an environment, application, or workload.

Within the Five Disciplines of the Cloud Adoption Framework, Resource Consistency is a discipline that ensures resources are consistently configured in such a way that they can be:

  • Managed
  • Monitored
  • Secured
  • Accessed
  • Recovered

by Users, IT, and Security operations teams.

Within the Five Disciplines of the Cloud Adoption Framework, Deployment Acceleration includes policies and practices for deployment, configuration alignment, and script reusability. This could be through manual activities or fully automated DevOps activities and pipelines with an infrastructure as code approach.

As this discipline matures, the cloud governance team, in conjunction with the DevOps team, can define new deployment strategies and techniques. By accelerating reusable asset deployment, the barriers to cloud adoption can be removed, increasing the pace of innovation.
