Intranet Google Site Migration to SharePoint

Industry: Retail

Problem​

  • For a large retail company, that consists of three separate brands, Spyglass helped modernize and move all Intranet sites to SharePoint.
  • Each brand had their own Google Site, which made sharing information and communicating very difficult between the different brands.
  • Client wanted to create one singular platform to share information with all their employees across all brands and locations.

Solution​

  • Spyglass worked with the client to migrate content from legacy Google Sites, to a single platform on Microsoft SharePoint, including a newer look and feel and more cohesive solution.
  • Spyglass implemented three separate SharePoint intranet sites that all had common elements and approaches which allowed the company to share information across all brands and have better employee communication and connections.

  • The enhanced Intranet sites allowed the client to increase employee satisfaction and engagement by keeping employees informed, engaged, and updated including both office and frontline workers.

Slack to Teams Migration

Industry: Healthcare

Problem​

  • Client had a strong user base leveraging Slack but had decided the cost benefit of Teams outweighed the need for the large spend on Slack.
  • Client wanted to deploy and seamlessly migrate their entire organization to Teams so that all business processes were on one platform.

Solution​

  • Spyglass provided a Slack to Teams Migration Service - a combination of professional services and our proprietary migration tool that inventories a Slack environment and then leverages the Microsoft Graph API to migrate messages and files from Slack to Teams. We also provided  Microsoft based custom development of bots and SPFX solutions to translate Slack apps and integrations to Teams.

Benefits​

  • The client now operates solely on Teams, which has improved their collaboration and process efforts. 
  • Currently, over 7k users at the client utilize Teams; and they were able to retire their Slack Licensing for multi-million-dollar savings.

Consolidating Platforms on the Cloud

Industry: Healthcare

Problem​

  • Client was merging with another hospital that was Google-based, and after careful evaluation decided to transition over to a common Microsoft O365 platform.
  • The hospitals needed help migrating from Google to O365, consolidating the two hospitals onto one platform, and training their users.

Solution​

  • Spyglass led the migration from planning and design through execution and training bringing the hospitals onto one cohesive platform.
  • As part of the Adoption and Change Management process, Spyglass hosted multiple sessions with the client to keep them engaged and learning throughout the process.

Benefits​

  • With one consolidated platform, the hospitals were able to collaborate much easier. They were also able to eliminate many other third party tools, leading to tremendous cost savings.

Moving to the Cloud

Industry: High Tech

Problem​

  • Client had been mainly on premise until they purchased Office 365 E3 for their entire enterprise and they needed help with the large-scale deployment.
  • The company had never experienced a journey to the cloud before, so they needed to understand the foundational services that must be implemented prior to deploying Office 365.

Solution​

  • Spyglass helped the client understand how to build the foundation to implement the platform. We also helped them to deploy the Office 365 services in an organized and meaningful way.
  • We also implemented Adoption and Change Management best practices, including a champions program, to help client start to improve their use of the platform and get a better ROI.

Benefits​

  • The client is fully deployed on Office 365 and Microsoft, has a better understanding of the cloud, has a Modern Workplace solution that fosters better communication and collaboration, and achieved a significant ROI.

Cloud Security Assessment

Industry: Financial Services

Problem​

  • This client had just begun their journey to the cloud in a more ad hoc business unit driven manner. Their deployment configuration was being managed in a non standardized fashion, leaving their environment vulnerable.

Solution

  • Spyglass performed a current state evaluation with our security and governance assessment approach for their existing Azure implementation.
  • Leveraging our own custom built tool based on Microsoft’s Zero Trust Approach, the Microsoft Cloud Adoption Framework (CAF), and NIST, Spyglass presented a Power BI visual scorecard including prioritized remediation steps and activities.

Benefits

  • The client was able to better secure their cloud environment by evaluating high and critically identified assessment items and architecting and implementing solution based, ‘security approved,’ Azure Blueprints for Business analytics, Security Workflows and IT Central, alongside of Azure fundamental education and a cloud governance road map.

COVID Test Kit Distribution App

Industry: Higher Education

Problem​

  • For the classes that had to be held in-person during the pandemic, COVID testing was a critical factor to keep everyone safe.
  • The university was looking for a quick solution which would scan the IDs and distribute the COVID test kits to the students and staff who were at the campus.

Solution

  • Spyglass helped the university quickly build a tracking application leveraging Microsoft Office 365 applications including SharePoint Online, Power Apps, and Power BI.
  • The Power App allowed the staff members to either scan the student/staff ID with their smart phone or manually enter the ID to allow for proper tracking.

Benefits

  • This solution allowed over 100 staff members to scan the ID badges using their smart phones for the test kit distribution and inventory management, allowing the school to return to in-person and hybrid classes as safely as possible during the pandemic.

Global Business Reporting

Industry: Medical Device

Problem​

  • This medical device firm wanted to provide a holistic business review for all global business units (GBU’s) in the organization.
  • The challenge was that each business unit had a different analytical perspective with no cohesiveness across global business units.

Solution

  • Spyglass architected Azure based data solution sourcing data from several different systems with private connectivity to ERP, MDM and Definitive Healthcare data sets across all global business units and companies.
  • The result was an enterprise reporting model that provided business metrics for Rental, Service, Sales, Accounts Receivables based on Industry standards for all GBU’s with a consistent customer definitions, product hierarchies and naming conventions.

  • Business users now have a consistent, timely and cross GBU view of Sales, Rental and Service metrics to help make better informed decisions about their business and provide insight to their customers.

Improving Analytics for Student Engagement

Problem​

  • The university needed better reporting and analytics to make informed decisions that would improve their overall student experience.
  • As an Online University, they had a lot of information already collected, but they were looking for ways to better understand and analyze that information.

Solution

  • Spyglass built a reporting solution with Azure and Power BI that combined their own data with data from Nexus LMS, their learning system of choice that presented clear and actionable reports.

  • The reporting system Spyglass created allowed the university to see crucial pieces of information to ensure students were remaining engaged and successful during their remote learning.

Tenant to Tenant Migrations

Problem​

  • The client had gone through a series of Merger & Acquisitions over the years, which resulted in disparate systems and no single collaboration platform to operate their business.
  • Our client needed to move to one platform for all existing companies as well as for all future acquisitions to promote seamless global communication.

Solution

  • First, Spyglass performed a tenant-to-tenant migration to merge all companies onto a single tenant.
  • Next Spyglass provided a cohesive plan, architecture, and execution for a global Teams deployment to help the smaller companies merge onto one collaboration platform.

  • The consolidated Tenant and roll out of Teams allows this large company to finally operate as one company on a single collaboration platform.

Migrating to the Cloud

Industry: Financial Services

Problem​

  • Client needed a partner to help them plan and move over 12,000 email mailboxes from an on-premise environment to the cloud with Exchange Online, to implement SharePoint Hybrid, and to provide guidance on OneDrive capabilities and roll-out.
  • It was critical to the client that there was no disruption to the business during these migrations and that legacy custom logic and security requirements were replicated in the new environments.

Solution

  • Spyglass worked with the client to plan, design and perform a full migration of all their 12,000+ mailboxes, implement SharePoint Hybrid and roll out OneDrive.
  • The client did not experience any downtime or business disruptions during the entire process and successfully moved to a new cloud environment.

Benefits

  • The migration allowed the customer to move to more modern cloud environments and sunset older legacy applications allowing for better collaboration and communications throughout the large enterprise.

Problem

  • Client wanted to outsource their IT needs so their internal staff could focus on billable security tasks with their customer base.
  • The client was in the early stages of a cloud adoption when they brought us in for assistance.

Solution

  • Spyglass assisted in creating their Microsoft tenant. We configured their hybrid AD and O365 email, maintained their Azure tenant, and helped them to implement Teams with Phone System licensing.
  • Spyglass also converted their Office 365 and Azure subscriptions to our CSP program to provide more direct management and support.

Secure Code Training

Industry: Retail

Problem

  • Client was looking for security training for their software development staff but wanted to avoid the standard computer-based offerings that are often viewed as tedious and time consuming.
  • In addition, they wanted a training solution that would appeal to multiple job roles and have enough variety to deliver multiple times a year.

Solution

  • As an authorized reseller of the industry’s only Application Security Cyber Ranges, Spyglass worked with the client to design a solution that would be attractive to not only developers but also architects, QA, testers, business analysts, security champions, and more.
  • Based on the amount of time they wanted to dedicate to training, Spyglass was able to construct a gamified solution that incorporated ethical hacking with learning labs to help promote security best practices.

  • With eight intentionally vulnerable sites to choose from, all with a real-time leaderboard, this training turns passive learners into active participants experiencing the risks of poor design, coding and configuration and the importance of security controls.
